Congratulations to both Sarah Floyd and Andy Shearer in our GHS special education department! They were recognized on Thursday, February 14, 2019, by Mr. Burton and Mr. Cramer, our Community Superintendent, for their outstanding contributions to HCPSS and the students they work with each day.
Congratulations to Graham Dilworth and teammates for qualifying for the 2A State Championship Meet. Graham won the Mile in 4:30 and placed 3rd in the 800m qualifying in both events. Katie Melesko also qualified in 2 events, finishing 2nd in the 3200m and 4th in the 800m. The 4 x 400m Relay Team of Kirsten Crawford, Chloe Birckhead, Caitlyn Baehr and Meredith Arterburn qualified by finishing 4th.
On January 25, 2019, Glenelg physics students competed in the 6th annual Howard County Physics Olympics held at the mall in Columbia. Glenelg brought 8 teams (48 students in total) to compete against other high schools in the county totaling almost 50 teams! I am very proud to say that Glenelg Team E took 1st place overall, and won 2 of 5 individual competitions! The team comprised of Meredith Arterburn, Claire Brinster, Carmela D'Antuono, Stephanie Farace, and Henna Datta! Way to go Gladiators!
Congratulations to Aaron Ortwein from Glenelg High School who has been selected to receive the Howard County Public Schools Superintendent’s Award at UMBC beginning with the Fall 2019 semester.
