Two Glenelg Orchestra students recently won major musical competitions!

Sihyun Jennifer Park, a 10th grade cellist in the GHS Orchestra, won first place in the Golden Classical Music Awards and was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The URL below includes the description of the event and the list of 2019 winners.

Maxwell Lu, a senior violinist in the GHS Orchestra, won an international composition prize and will be travelling later this month to Vienna Austria to receive his award. As part of the prize, he will have his piece performed and recorded by a professional orchestra. See the URL below for more information (you may have to use Google Translate). Max has already written several pieces for piano and string quartet, but this is his first piece for symphonic orchestra.
