Attention Seniors! Are you interested in speaking or performing at graduation? Speech auditions will be held after school on Friday, February 7th in Room 144. This year, based on auditions, we will be assigning students to the following speaking roles at graduation:
-Welcome Speech
-Introduction to Distinguished Guest
-Introduction to Student Performance # 1
-Introduction of Second Student(s) Speaker
-Second Student Speech
-Introduction to Student Performance # 2
-Performance #2 (music, dance, etc.)
-Introduction to Mr. Burton
-Turning of the Tassels
For speech auditions, please write a short speech (3-5 minutes in length) about your experiences at GHS. “A graduation speech should fulfill two goals: It should convey a sending off message to the members of a graduating class, and it should inspire them to leave school ready to embark on an exciting new adventure.”
There will be two main student speeches at graduation this year. The first is the Welcoming Address. This speech sets the tone of excitement for the day. We have waited and worked hard and are finally getting our just deserved. The second speech should reflect and reminisce on all the experiences the Class of 2020 have shared. It mentions everyone who has played a role in the journey (student, peers, teachers, coaches, custodians, parents, grandparents, etc.). This speech usually sends a message about grit, growth and perseverance.
When presenting your speech, please make sure to speak clearly and project your voice, take your time, make eye contact, and most importantly, BE YOURSELF!
Please see Mrs. Cherry or Mrs. Bauer in the Front Office, if you have any questions.
