Gladiators!
We are looking forward to this year's Homecoming events. Here is what you need to know:
Event Dates:
- October 11 - 14, 2021, Homecoming Spirit Week
- Monday, October 11 - America Day, Wear your Red, White & Blue
- Tuesday, October 12, Tropical Tuesday, Hawaiian Shirts and Sunglasses
- Wednesday, October 13, Way Back Wednesday, Pick any Style from any Decade.
- Thursday, October 14, Class Color Day, Wear your Class Color
- 9th Grade, Gray
- 10th Grade, White
- 11th Grade, Black
- 12th Grade, Red
- October 15, 2021, Homecoming Parade, 5:30 pm, designated route (see below).
- October 15, 2021, Homecoming Football game Vs. River Hill High School, at 7:00 pm, in the Colosseum.
- October 16, 2021, Homecoming Dance, Outdoor in the stadium from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Tickets are $20.00 per ticket. More information is below.
Event Information:
Spirit Week, will take place October 11 -14; students are welcome to dress in the theme for that day (see themes above). Both the HCPSS dress code and mandatory masking order remain in effect during spirit week.
Homecoming Parade, On October 15, the parade will start at 5:30 pm on the designated route. Clubs, teams, school-based organizations, and our AMAZING Marching Band will participate in this event. In addition floats, cars, and trucks will be driven to shocase our groups.. It is a fun and exciting event for the community to come together before the Varsity Football game. The Glenelg community is encouraged to attend and support the fantastic Glengelg students!
- The parade starts on Burntwoods Road, then takes a left onto Roscommon Drive, then turn left onto Castlebar Drive, then left onto Cellbridge Drive, then taking the second exit on the traffic circle back onto Burntwoods Road, and finally, a right into the East Parking Lot.
Varsity Football Game, On October 15, the Varsity Football game will be played in the Colosseum at 7:00 pm. The Glenelg Gladiators will play the River Hill Hawks in the 2021 Homecoming game. You do not want to miss out on this exciting event this fun for all ages! Come out and support our team and enjoy the Glenelg fries from our world-famous Boosters concession stand.
Homecoming Tickets Sales, On October 4, ticket sales will start. The 2021 Homecoming dance will be held outdoors in our stadium. Please make sure that students dress accordingly. There will be dancing, food, games, and more for all students and guests who purchase a ticket.
- Tickets will be on sale during all lunch shifts (10:15 am - 12:15 pm) starting Monday, October 4, 2021.
- Tickets are $20.00 each and can be made payable by check (check preferred, made payable to GHS) or cash. We are unable to accept Credit Cards at this time.
- Any students wishing to bring a guest must complete the HCPSS Guest Form before purchasing a guest ticket.
- Important: Students must turn in the Student Code of Conduct, the Glenelg Honor Code, and the Family File before students are allowed to purchase tickets.
- All tickets are non-refundable (unless canceled by HCPSS) and non-transferable.
Homecoming Dance Details, On October 16, 2021, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, in the stadium.
- Suggested Dress: Semi-formal or something nice. Remember we’ll be dancing outside, so pick comfortable shoes (No heels may be worn on the turf) and be prepared for cool weather.
- Coat Check: There will be a coat ( and shoe and bag) check available for students.
- To be admitted to the dance, each student must have a ticket, ID (or show their schedule through Synergy) and arrive by 7:00 pm. Per HCPSS guidelines all students must enter the dance within one hour of the event start time.
- Guests must be accompanied by the student who purchased their ticket.
- No backpacks, large purses, or outside food/drinks are permitted at the Game or Dance. Students who have backpacks or large purses will need to check them at the coat check as mentioned above.
- Students who depart the dance will not be readmitted.
- HCPSS Policy 9230 applies to all extracurricular activities, including Homecoming. All HCPSS properties and events are drug and alcohol-free. Any student who violates this policy will face interventions and consequences outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
We are glad to be able to come together this year and celebrate Homecoming again. As always, our students and our community will always represent Glenelg High School in the best way possible, exhibiting good sportsmanship, kindness, and community during these events.
