Howard County Striders David Tripp Scholar Athlete Awards

For the past 25+ years The Howard County Striders have sponsored an annual Scholar/Athlete awards program for students who have excelled in both academic and athletic endeavors. The current coronavirus situation has made it very difficult to publicize the specifics for this year's competition. I am hoping that by reaching out to individuals (teachers, coaches, administrators, guidance counselors, etc.) like yourself, we will be able to maintain, even increase, the number of applicants for the 2022 awards.

The program, "The Howard County Striders David Tripp Scholar Athlete Awards," has made grants of more than $20,000 over the past four years. To be eligible, applicants must be graduating seniors from a Howard County High School, who have excelled in both academic and athletic (running-related) pursuits. The awards are not need based, and multiple winners can be from the same high school. While the Selection Committee attempts to make similar amounts available to both males and females, the final decisions are dependent upon the quality of the applicant pool.

The deadline for applying is April 8, 2022
