Jump Start Dual Enrollment

Is your student registered for a high school based course with a CC designation? The CC designation indicates that the course is eligible for the student to earn college credit through HCPSS’s partnership with Howard Community College in the JumpStart Dual Enrollment initiative. The deadline for students to register for college credit in a Fall CC course is September 11th, 2020. To register for college credit, please complete the following steps:

SAT Testing Information, 2020-2021

Due to health and safety concerns, HCPSS school facilities will not be available for the Saturday, August 29, 2020, administration date. The following schools were registered as test sites for the Saturday, August 29, 2020, administration: Centennial, Glenelg, Hammond, Mount Hebron, Reservoir, River Hill and Wilde Lake high schools. At this time, no decision has been made for the Saturday, September 26, 2020, of the SAT, with the following schools currently registered as test sites: Centennial, Glenelg, Oakland Mills and Reservoir high schools. HCPSS will continue to collaborate with the CollegeBoard on health and safety guidance to determine the feasibility of future administrations.

4x4 Schedule Information 2020-2021 School Year

I hope you and your family are having a wonderful summer. After the rapid shift to a virtual platform for continuity of learning in the spring, everyone was ready for a summer break. As you may already know, our school system has spent these months in work groups to address what school will look like for the 2020-2021 school year. First, please make sure you have noted the school system calendar changes. School begins for students on September 8, 2020. The adjusted calendar is definitely an important bookmark for families. Schools will operate virtually for Semester 1. The student schedule incorporates a 4x4 semester schedule, which allows students to take 8 courses, instead of the 7-course model that we have traditionally followed.
