Glenelg High School is thrilled to announce some very exciting events that we will be provided to the students on September 9, 2019! Ninth grade students will be participating in an off-campus experience; One Glenelg Day. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors will participate in Gladiator’s Skills for Success Day. Attached you will find a workshop overview for each respective grade.

In years past we have had a few issues in the morning with traffic. We understand that the auditorium (west) drop off location gets backed up and this makes it hard for a quick and easy drop-off. We wanted to reach out before the start of school and encourage parents to drop their students off in the baseball (east) lot. The doors on the rear and side of the building are open until 7:25 am for students and staff. The best part is, the baseball lot has less traffic, is an easier in and out than the auditorium drop off, and you will no longer need to battle with any buses when you arrive.

For those who were unable to attend the Glenelg High School Back to School Night on August 29, 2019, or just wanted to reread the information. We have provided the slide that was shown to the parents prior to visiting the classrooms.

New College Board AP Test Registration: November Deadlines! Checks (made out to Glenelg High School) must be received by 2:30pm or online payments by 11:59pm on November 1st. Students will not be able to register for exams via the AP Portal after the November 1st date.

Beginning in the 2019-20 school year, the AP® Program is introducing new resources and processes designed to help students earn college credit and placement. Here’s what you and your student need to know:

We hope that you had an amazing and restful summer. Tomorrow, August 27th, 2019, both students and parents will have access to student schedules through HCPSS connect. These schedules will include the course name, period, teacher and room number. We will also hand out hard copies during New Student Orientation (August 29, 2019, from 8:45 am – 11:00 am) and Back to School Night (August 29, 2019, from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm). We look forward to seeing you at these events.

Dear Glenelg Families, I am delighted to welcome you to the 2019/2020 academic year at Glenelg High School! I trust that your summer holiday was good, filled with memorable experiences and many moments where you got to spend time with your loved ones. Here at Glenelg, we pride ourselves as our dedicated and hardworking staff are committed to meeting the specific needs of each student to help them grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We hope to partner with you in this endeavor by encouraging our students to be the best versions of themselves every day.

All juniors and seniors who wish to park on school grounds must attend a Safe Driving Presentation prior to receiving a parking permit. Students must be accompanied by their parent/legal guardian for the duration of the presentation. Once the presentation has started, late students & parents will not be admitted - No exceptions. Parent/guardian must be with the student during the entire presentation. The GHS meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at 6:00 pm. This past January, the Board of Education directed that HCPSS initiate a systemwide school boundary review, which could potentially impact any or all of the 74 comprehensive schools in our county beginning in the 2020-2021 school year. This review will begin on June 13 with the presentation of the 2019 Feasibility Study and is critical due to population growth that has resulted in crowding at many schools while schools in other areas are underutilized.
